Currently,
the duration of the
program is ten hours per
week. From 2011, all funded pre-school programs are required to
offer a minimum of ten hours and forty-five minutes per week (please
see the timetable page for variations in session times from 2011).
The program is especially designed to meet
the needs of four and five-year-old children. Opportunities are
provided for children to develop skills necessary for appropriate group
living: self-confidence, independence, resilience, communication,
problem solving and acceptance.
The program encourages competence and confidence in the social, emotional, language, intellectual, physical and moral domains. Time is spent providing a sound basis for the learning of literacy and numeracy skills through age appropriate experiences. Creative expression is enhanced through art, music and drama. Focus is placed on stimulating curiosity and creative thinking, and allowing children to develop positive attitudes to the world around them.
The KOALAS group attends on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and the POSSUMS group attends on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
See Timetables for session times.
